Promyri
Axladitsa and Mimi are nested within the Promyri area, the heel of the Pelion peninsula, right opposite the Sporades islands of Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonisos. Promyri is the main village of the area, meaning a peaceful place. It is sheltered on the side of a hill, offering protection, at a distance from the sea where historically, pirates passed through. Its beautiful village square (plateia) with its platanos tree from 1827, is a central place for village life. The church dedicated to the Virgin Mary, is a gathering place for feast days and the local primary school and post office continues to be a focal point of village life.

Platanias
Platanias is the fishing village closest to Axladitsa, which also becomes a summer destination for holiday makers, with accommodation, restaurants and cafes open from April to November.
The area has a selection of beautiful beaches, some sandy and others rocky to choose from and there is a beautiful network of footpaths, restored by a local community group, Friends of the Kalderimi of South Pelion. Most striking of all, are the olive trees and groves and their steep stream beds (remas) The area is deeply carpeted with woodland made of platania trees, holm oaks, and other shrubs and in the spring, a riot of wild flowers. Each season has its beauty and distinct feel – the stillness of the Winter, the colours of the Spring, the warmth and the swimming in the Aegean Sea of the summer, the leaves turning and the clicking sounds of the olive harvest as canes shake the trees to shed their olives in the Fall.

South Pelion
The Promyri area is nested in South Pelion, with the Pagasitikos Gulf on one side and the Aegean Sea on the other. Argalasti, the main village of south Pelion, is the gathering place on Saturdays for the local farmers market, and the hardware shop that has absolutely everything and two supermarkets. Lafkos, with its big village square and restaurants, as well as its stone covered pathways (kalderimia) offers an experience of how people created these villages as places of life and protection, living from the land, yet also building beautiful stone houses. Milina, Horto, Agia Kyriaki, Trikeri, and Old Trikeri island are wonderful places to visit to eat at fresh fish or have a coffee by the sea.
North Pelion
Geologically formed from the continental tectonic plates coming into contact, Pelion mountain to the north rises to 1624 meters, the homeplace of the legendary centaurs (half horse, half human) and their king Chiron, Achilles beloved teacher, also known as the wounded healer. The north of the peninsula has a totally different topography and is worth a visit with deep gorges and ancient woodland, waterfalls and walking paths on the mountain. The village of Tsangarada with its 1000 year old platanos tree and different cultural events, Agios Ioannis, a seaside resort, Kissos a beautiful village nearly at the top, Zagora, with its apple orchards and cherry trees, and at the very top, Hania, with its ski slope. Stunning beaches can be found right along the entire eastern coast of the peninsula.
Volos
Pelio’s city, Volos is a vibrant place with a population of 85,000 people, on the shores of the Pagasitikos Gulf. From here ferries and hydrofoils leave for the Sporades islands. It has a lively shopping area, cultural life and tsipouradika, (local restaurants that serve fish and seafood meze with tsipouro, the local brew)
