South Pelion holds a rare gift: within its modest landscape between two coastal areas, it contains all the geological diversityof Greece. This rugged terrain shaped resilient communities deeply rooted in land and sea, each developing uniquecapabilities while remaining interconnected through generations.
Since 2020 when Maria attended Regenesis Institutes, Regenerative Practitioners Series the seed of becoming a regenerative node for South Pelion was planted. How could Axladitsa be of service to the regeneration of the area?
Today, a new bold initiative is being born: helping South Pelion become a self-balancing bio-regional system. We envision integrated villages where regenerative agriculture sustains the landscape, communities thrive economically, and local life flourishes. This is part of co-created research process, Regenerative Places, initiated by the Regenesis Institute. Together, with places in Europe and the world, we are co-designing action researching new futures of regenerative bio-cultural regions.
We’re not trying to fix problems. Instead, we’re awakening the region’s innate potential for renewal—creating a prototype for how rural areas worldwide can regenerate through purpose-driven enterprising rooted in ecological integrity, social connection, and economic opportunity.
We envision Axladitsa, as a regenerative living lab, where experiments in farming, education and enterprising takes place not in isolation but in collaboration with locals, regional stakeholders and wider internationals. We are in the set up seeking funding and developing a core group.
We invite you to follow developments and even more come and be part of what emerges.
